You cannot directly change the thumbnails of your YouTube videos on the YouTube channel; you need to use YouTube Studio to help you with this.

First of all.

Log in to YouTube Studio by clicking the title here or selecting it under your profile icon.

Second.

Click “Content” on the sidebar and select the video you want to change the thumbnail of.

Third.

Continue scrolling down the video edit page until you reach the “Thumbnails” section (Skip Title and Description).

If you haven’t used any custom thumbnails before, just click the first box here. For those already using non-auto-generated thumbnails for your videos, click the three dots on the top right of the first box to open “Options”.

Then, click convert.

Go to the folder with your custom thumbnail that you want to change for your YouTube video and select it.

After you select a thumbnail, click “Open”. By the way, make sure the thumbnail size is 2MB or below; otherwise, YouTube won’t allow you to use a large image as a video thumbnail.
